Lisa Koenig’s Five Faces Art
Storytelling. Indigenous people. Time. These are the themes found intertwined, woven, coiled, riveted, sewn, formed, hammered, and fired in Five Faces Art by Lisa Koenig. She creates handmade books to express her fascination with the ritual of storytelling by Native American Indians. Stories are intrinsic to our lives. Each life story is truly unique and our faces embody the stories within. Five Faces Art is greatly influenced by tribal visual elements that are wild and raw. It is unpolished and primitive echoing the strength and intrigue of age. Lisa uses natural materials such as metal, fibers, beads, paper and clay, as these transform with time.
